Neuromuscular deficits  can be benefitted by practicing senior balance exercises on a regular basis. Please see     http://www.exerciseforbalance.com/buy-now Neuromuscular problems can include conditions like:
-Diabetes
-Parkinson’s Disease
-Peripheral Neuropathy
-Lower extremity weakness and numbness form Sciatica
Medical researchers have investigated the correlation between neuromuscular declines and imbalance. In a recent study, A best practice fall prevention exercise program to improve balance, strength / power, and psychosocial health in older adults: study protocol for a randomized controlled trial. by Gschwind YJ, Kressig RW, Lacroix A, Muehlbauer T, Pfenninger B, Granacher U, we have come to understand the ramifications of decreased balance and the need to rehearse  balance exercises for those with neuromuscular deficits The researchers noted that with increasing age neuromuscular deficits (e.g., sarcopenia) may result in impaired physical performance and an increased risk for falls. Prominent intrinsic fall-risk factors are age-related decreases in balance and strength / power performance as well as cognitive decline. Additional studies are needed to develop specifically tailored exercise programs for older adults that can easily be implemented into clinical practice or at home. Thus, the objective of the present trial is to assess the effects of a fall prevention program that was developed by an interdisciplinary expert panel on measures of balance, strength / power, body composition, cognition, psychosocial well-being, and falls self-efficacy in healthy older adults. Additionally, the time-related effects of detraining are tested.  In their study, the researchers found that  the supervised combination of balance and strength / power training will improve performance in variables of balance, strength / power, body composition, cognitive function, psychosocial well-being, and falls self-efficacy of older adults. Furthermore they determined that training-induced health-relevant changes, such as improved performance in activities of daily living, cognitive function, and quality of life, as well as a reduced risk for falls may help to lower costs in the health care system.

Senior Balance Exercises Help With Stability Deficits

Medical researchers have proven that practicing senior balance exercises and strengthening exercises can help improve stability, reduce the risk of falling and enhance quality of life for older adults. Equilibrium routines can be practiced every day at home and can start with basic steps such as standing on one foot. By standing on one foot you will enhance lower leg strength as well as raise the speed and strength of balance reactions at the feet and ankles, which leads to greater stability with all standing and walking activities. You can learn appropriate senior balance exercises that you can do at home by following the direction of an experienced Physical Therapist in the Exercise For Balance DVD.
