The researchers found that when simulating a forward fall, participants with osteoarthritis demonstrated difficulty in absorbing the impact and slowing down the forward momentum of the body during a recovery step. Moreover, poor dynamic postural control was demonstrated as task complexity increased. As a result, individuals with knee osteoarthritis were more likely to fall forwards. Medical researchers and healthcare providers agree that older folks , especially those with arthritis and subsequent limitations in activity, should perform certain senior balance exercises to boost their steadiness skills and limit the possibility of a fall.
